Breakfast Like a King
So you are in a bit of a hurry in the morning but you still need to eat, what are your quick options?
Toast and cereal may be the obvious choice but there are some more interesting alternatives as well.
Starbucks porridge
Porridge is always a good option and this version made with skimmed milk, should keep you full until lunchtime but it will also help to lower your blood cholesterol. Though the sugar content is fairly high at 25g it is mostly from the dried fruits and it is also a great source of fibre.

McDonalds bacon and egg McMuffin
Despite a quite high fat content, this is actually quite a good choice with over 20g of protein in it to help quell any hunger before lunch and the low salt level at 1.4g is less than most cereals and toast breakfasts.

Belvita milk and cereal breakfast biscuits
Wholegrain barley, oats and wheat cereals make up these breakfast bisuits and with added vitamins and minerals make a nice healthy choice. The makers suggest eating four of them with fruit and yoghurt and this should then contain about 300-400 calories. Perfect to keep you going until lunchtime.

Blueberry muffin
Even with the inclusion of a fruit with the blueberry you should be aware that the average sized muffin contains at least seven teaspoons of sugar, which when joined with the white flour, is digested very quickly so although it will give you a quick energy kick you will get hungry again quite quick. This should be more of a treat rather than an everyday breakfast.

Pret a Manger hot and cold granola
A slightly high calorie option that with almost 600 calories is more than a quarter of an average woman’s daily recommended allowance. However it is not bad on saturated fat with only 4g per serving and it is also a good source of fibre with almost half of your 18g daily target.
